I mostly stick to QoL or QoL-ish mods so I'm not terribly familiar with how they might address the issue, although I know at least LW2 and/or LWOTC allows for guaranteed promotions up to a certain rank under some circumstances, although the soldier still has to partake in the mission. It's also kind of weird in that you can turn a rookie into a sergeant, but any existing squaddies or corporals have to earn their promotions the hard way.

The resistance order that gets you sergeants is absurdly good early on and I wish there was a smoother transition, even if it meant putting your squaddies back in. Once I start getting squad size upgrades and a healthy roster of rangers and grenadiers I no longer send rookies on covert actions since I'll just end up getting an excess of specialists and/or sharpshooters.Īnd yeah GTS is kind of iffy in that regard. I use a mix of both early on just to make sure I can always make a non-tired squad consisting entirely of faction soldiers, rangers and/or grenadiers.
